We would like to take a moment to Thank the Medley Police Department for all of their support here at the track, and recognize the outstanding efforts they have made in bringing the “Beat the Heat” events to Countyline Dragway. This is the one event where you can legally race a police car and not wind up ticketed and behind bars at the end of the race.
Beat The Heat, Inc. is a national "cops & kids" oriented program which brings young people together with the police officers who are there to help them. It gives Cops & Kids an opportunity to closely interact with each other so that each group can learn things that will really make a difference for both groups in the community.
The theme of Beat The Heat is "racing for education". Three of the four goals specifically state a goal for educating the public. Many of the problems of our society today stem from a lack in education and understanding. Police attempt to get adults to use their heads and think before they do something, but it is difficult to get their attention. However, we can get the attention of the young people by using the racing police cars, and they are eager to listen. We encourage young people to STAY IN SCHOOL AND OFF DRUGS AND ALCOHOL.
